The roller foot allows you to twist and turn in crazy ways. If you know what your doing you can make beautiful designs with rolling stitches.
This one is unusually shiny and beautiful. I'm sure she was taken care of by her previous owners.

Every little bit helps. Thanks
Hi there, I just bought one of these! It looks to be in good condition and it works (I ended up getting it for $95 CAD). Super happy as it will be my first time ever sewing! Hoping to sew leather and shoe fabrics and wool. It seems very fast- is there any way to slow these down? Also, can I turn the crank by hand to make it super slow or will this damage the machine? (the same way it turns the belt with the motor) Thanks for your help, great site on these wonderful machines, I'm stoked you are interested in these beauties!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Great machine, you should have fun working with it. Yes you can run it by hand, as long as you turn it towards you CCW. One way to slow it down is to get a double pulley like this one:

Or replace the clutch motor with a servo motor. Also available on eBay.
Awesome, thanks for the tips, I used it for the first time today- it's amaaazing! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI have one, a model about 80 years and I would like to sell, can you tell me a price?
ReplyDeleteDepends on condition. Anywhere from low $100 to $300 with table and clutch motor. Singer made many of these...
DeleteMy model is from 1887 and is in a good state. If is an antic, how much would cost?
ReplyDeleteHi after checked your video, I started my quest of my first 31k15 here in France. I bought one today for few euros but the arm from the desk to the wheel (the smallest wheel on the bottom right corner of your picture) is broken. I would lire to Know if I can easily find that part somewhere? This part on your picture seems different, and not specific to the 31k15? Thanks for your help. Nico
ReplyDeleteAre you referring to the wheel on the bobbin winder?
DeleteYes, I finally understood, I mean the moving arm from the bobbin winder, I think it will be difficult to find an original one. I will buy a complete brand new. Today I have a new issue with the generator brushes which are completely broken and I can't measure them to replace them. Do you have an idea to identify the brush size? Thanks for your help. Nico
